I was given an award from my board of education for teaching excellence and curriculum development.

The funny part is that at my school they tried to keep it low key. When I walked into the office where the award was being typed up, the person typing it immediately minimized the screen so that no one else could see it.

I was given the award in the principle's office with only the head teacher there.

Apparently it's a pretty substantial award that many Korean teachers covet.

I have to admit, I've been given quite a few awards in my life but this one felt pretty good seeing how Koreans are generally pretty conservative about giving out any type of praise.

Also, this year I got my picture taken with the rest of the school.

A good year indeed.

Appreciate it. The funny thing is is that I don't think I did anything that special. Also, no one would tell me the "real" reason why I got it.

My co-teacher and I made it to the finals in the co-teaching competition for our province. Apparently we finished second. I think that may be the reason but once again I don't know why.

I came third in the Camp book competition for my province. My co-teach took the credit and pocketed the cash. Not that there was that much cash or credit in the first place. Laughing

Congrats on your success Zulethe. Very Happy

How's it feel to see another foreigner on the street (assuming they're a teacher) anywhere in your province knowing you're the top dog? Razz

Honestly though, congratulations!

Good skills.... congratulations!!

Did a few extra shekels appear in your bank account as well?

Its always nice to have written plaudits and a cash bonus Very Happy

It seems kinda strange to me they kept it low key, do you work in Seoul?

Because (in my experience) out in the Provinces they are more generous and open with their praise and its mandatory school photos.
