.. with only three days until my 2 week leave abroad.
I and at least five other NETs here in Incheon are waiting for IMOE to inform us on our school transfer to begin in March. My current contract as well as the 5 others is(are) ending in early March.
In my case, my period of stay here in Korea ENDS on March2nd[Tues]
* March 1st[Mon] is a public holiday. I called Immigration[call 1345] on this and was informed by them, it is possible to extend my period of stay ON March 2nd. I've done the period of stay extension before so I know the basic process in terms of what documents I need to take with me to immigration. I DO NOT need to bring a health check to immigration this time~it's no longer required, immigration says.
I will not speculate here on the reasons for the delay from IMOE in informing those of us waiting. I'l just say it's inexcusable on their part to keep us in the dark on such an important issue.

I had an appointment scheduled with Incheon Immigration and I was able to walk out with a new stamp in my passport and my ARC card was updated. I would try doing that. Meet face to face, get it all squared away in 20 minutes. |

Last-minute notification of transfers is systemic. When K-teachers apply to transfer, they typically get official notification of if & where they're going about a week beforehand. Sometimes they know how it should play out (seniority, vacancies, etc) but they dont discuss it publicly until the documents come through. Surprises can happen. Sometimes they really have no idea.
Used to be we'd try to get confirmation earlier to our epiks here in Gangwon ("Westerners expect more notice ...") but that ended up causing a lot of ruffled feathers. Principals were ticked that the foreigners had info before they did & other K-teachers were ticked at what looked like preferential treatment. Now the NETs play the same waiting game.
I suggest you have your stuff largely packed & ready to go before you head off on vacation. One nice thing about changing location here is that it requires about zero prearrangement. A couple phone calls. "Gotta move tomorrow? No problem."
Best luck. |

I can't answer your questions but having been there, make sure IMOE changes your place of work on your visa with immigration. SMOE didn't do that for me 1.5 years and and six months ago I had a bit of trouble getting my visa renewed. Nothing big, just a pain in the ass of having to return a few days later. Just saying. |

SMOE did the same for me, and because I was not notified, I couldn't go abroad.
