has anyone tried the costco homebrand butter? tried tescos and its too sweet. costco used to carry lurpak but have knocked it on the head for some reason. the land o lakes stuff is ok but a little pricey.

i too like olive oil but we need butter to make puff pastry

finally tested the costco butter and its just the job. half the price of the lando lakes and lurpak stuff - 4lbs for 2 manwon.
it says sweet cream but so does the landolakes stuff.
good times indeed!

Do you mean the butter is too sweet because it's been artificially enhanced? Otherwise, that's just the butter sans salt, which acts as a preservative. Go ahead and use if for puff pastry. It won't taste sweet in the end, but it should taste full of flavor. But add a little salt to help bring out that flavor, too.

yeah thats what im saying. we finally bought the costco stuff and its the same as lurpak and ladolakes - not sweet. we made a batch of pasties last week but making the puff pastry is quite an ordeal. tasty tho.

I think Homeplus has landolakes, and maybe one other brand?

yeah they do but landolakes and lurpak are 5/6000w for 1/2lb. the costco stuff is 20000w for 4 x 1lb blocks. and like the landolakes stuff its in sticks with measurements on the side.
