Facebook groups:

Seoul Cycling
Cycling in Korea

The Seoul Cycling group is now running a weekly Wednesday night ride from Banpo bridge south. We'll be doing 25 miles at a slow-ish 15 mph pace. Any riders, any bikes. This is a FUN ride. Or well, supposed to be. Once the weather gets better we can popsicles and then it'll really be fun.

As we gather more riders we'll start organizing weekly training rides as well and weekend trips out to the mountains or extended tours over long weekends.

Misc info:
Fixed gear shops in Seoul. Locations (approximately) and phone numbers.

You're welcome.

Looks like fun, although your idea of a slow bike ride is a little bit fast to me. And it also doesn't help that my bike got stolen. Sad

I see your Korean is pretty darn good, too.

I was out bicycling around the Han river paths this past Friday. I was very impressed with how they've improved much of the infrastructure! Still a long way to go, though.

Better than most cities in the 'States.

I'm also planning some future rides east of Seoul for riders of a higher skill level and we might consider over night trips or super-long distance rides if we can get enough riders.

There'll be something for everyone in our group.

(Though I'd suggest mountain bikers check out MTBK and the Filthy Freeriders first as they actuallly mountain bike. The Seoul Cycling group leans towards the road and more casual riding.)

If I decide to stay a 3rd year and move to Seoul, count me in. Til then, I'm stuck out here in the boonies.

For peoples in and around Gwangju, Jeollado, there is a new facebook group set up:

Gwangju Tri Sports

is open to anyone to join in for individual sport sessions just for fun, eg. road cycling, or, to train for and share info. on triathlons.

You folks should definitely take a shot out Gangneung way. The trails along the coast and up into the hills are amazing. Once we get rid of this snow, of course.
