I am looking to start a position in early May, and would prefer the public school system to a hagwon. recruiters (public and hagwon) point out that the semester will have started and there won't be positions until August. I see several on the jobs board, but should I be wary of these? The GEPIK program seems to be hiring all the time. Does anyone work for that program? Recommended or pass?

From what I know, trying to find a PS job for May is not the best time but it is possible. I applied with a recruiter (Teach Away) who keeps applications on file strictly for "takeover" positions where PS schools have teachers who flake out or leave on short notice/run and need a new teacher ASAP. Just keep your eyes peeled on the job boards and start contacting recruiters to see what they may have.

Thanks. Maybe I'll check out that recruiter.

There's also a decent hiring spree for public schools for the second semester I think.

There will be some jobs (not as many as at the start) but there are always teachers who leave early or who started late last year, so their contracts finish at weird times.

OP. My contract expires in early May. My school however doesn't know and won't know until March whether they will get money from gepik for a NET when this contract expires.

Depending on how things shake out, I may be also out there looking at the same time. Should I land a job I'm waiting on and the school gets funding, my school will have an early May opening (and I'm sure they'd prefer a female, if you're young, blonde and not fat you're hired)

header I pm'ed you as well.
