Hey girls and guys,

Some of you are interested in doing salsa classes so I am pleased to tell you that there will be a FREE Shocked

class starting this week in Hapjeong. It's an open class so you can just turn up. It'll be for 4 weeks, starting on Sunday 21st March, and run from 6-7pm each Sunday. Presumably if you like it you can then go on to do another level as courses are offered at different starting dates and at different times of the week. Usually courses are for 8 weeks and cost about W80,000, but this intro class is free so is a good reason to try something new.

I know several women want to try this, but guys, if you are keen, please come along too so that we girls don't have to partner each other!

The club is called "Inca" but is pretty hard to find, so if you are interested please PM me and I'll meet you at Hapjeong Station, exit 8, 5.40pm on Sunday 21st March.

By the way, Salsa...well pronounced more like seolsa..means diarrhea in Korean. Be careful about your pronunciation.

Yes I think it's a strange and funny thing that:
"Seolsa haseyo?" means "Do you do salsa dancing?" AND "Do you have diarrhoea?".
(BTW, does anyone else need a dictionary to spell 'diarrhoea' if it's not written in front of them???)

Another funny thing is that in Spain (I think) we bought some toilet paper which was called "Salsa". I mean, how coincidental is that??

Funny that you should mention Salsa. Last night, I bumped into Kelley~ the founder of Macondo's Salsa Dance Club 7 years ago. He just returned to Seoul from Beijing, last week. He mentioned that there are 5 Latino dance clubs in the Hong-dae area now. I guess he can take credit for making Hong Dae the salsa capital of Seoul. BTW, my wife and I met at Macondos. In any event, it's great to have him back!

It's taught by Koreans in Korean, but going by my experience with my current tango classes they will probably know a bit of English to help us. Most of it I just copy their movements and then they tell me details after everyones got cracking on that sequence. There will be a few foreigners, unless I can muster a decent posse, and Koreans. I'm currently the only foreigner in my class of 18 (for tango) and it's ok, everyone is really nice to me. The men only come up the top of my chest tho.... Good for them I guess!

How far out of the way is Hapjeong from Hanam? I think Hanam is on the edge of the world sometimes. Still would like to give it a try, though.

If you feel like a good laugh just go in the food section of a busy department store and start talking about 'salsa' you see on the shelf at the top of your voice. we had a pook korean girl who was trying to stock the shelves almost red with embarrassment.

ah... you have to find some way of stopping yourselves go crazy.
