How long does a change of status take?? I need to change from a D4 to an E2. I called immigration on the freephone number and, whilst being helpful, they didn't seem to know the answer.

IF you have everything ready and are eligible to change without a visa run then it can be done over the counter / while you wait.
IF you need a visa run (and are eligible) then you will need 4-7 days for your boss to obtain a visa confirmation number and an over-night trip for your visa run.
IF you need to return HOME for your consular interview then 4-7days for the confirmation number and then add "as long as it takes" to go home, have the interview and get back. |
