I took a position at a hagwon. They received all of my documents this week and told me today they want to send me the money to book my flight. The reasoning was that I could book the flight cheaper from the U.S. I let them know that I could check the online travel sites and email them the different prices, but would need to have the money before I book the flight. Has anyone ever heard of this? I have no problem booking my own fight. Does anyone have suggestions on how to transfer the money from them in an expedient way.
Thanks |

| They will probably ask you for your bank info, so that way they can wire you the money into your account. I've read about other people doing the same thing.. Wouldn't worry about it too much. |

| I actually just have them use their credit card. I give them the number of the agency or if on web, just give them all the information and web address and they can pay with their credit card. It will be cheaper for them than wire transfer. |

| You can even "buy" the ticket and place it on hold, then give them a 1-800 number to call. They give the booking number and credit card number and it's paid for. |

It worked for Orbitz, but I've had Corporate Travel for years, and then I came here, so I wouldn't know at this point. |

Shouldn't be a problem if they wire the money. I actually bought my own ticket with my own money once but was reimbursed once I arrived.

| No need to buy your own ticket. Don't give them the impression we are willing to do this. Have them use a credit card as mentioned. It won't cost them anything more. You can't escape the exchange rate unless you stiff the teacher. |

Good point, but I found if I bought the ticket, I could choose the airline instead of them putting me on KAL by default.
