|
|
I was supposed to meet someone in Seoul today, but found out that she couldn't come because "the bank was down". While there, I needed money. I tried cash machines from two different banks, and received an error message which said (I think) that KB would be down all this long weekend.
I read in another post about Hana bank doing the same thing last year (?)
Surely there are better times to do whatever it is that needs doing? Or maybe it's the best time because 'nobody will need money, they'll all be sharing the Lunar New Year with their families'
Anyway, I was ok as another friend actually owed me some money, but to all other KB customers, I wish you luck for this long weekend. |

It would have had to have started today. I would think the machine being out of money might be a possible explanation. But you may be right on the system being down, and that's insane. |

Guess it's KB's turn. Same thing happened with Shin Han back in 2005 or 2006 during Chuseok, I think. Closed for 4 or 5 days. I had to get my boss in the country to wire money to the motel manager in Seoul.
Nice-uh. |

Tried to use a pair of 3rd party ATMs last night with my KB account... Message in Korean included the dates 2/13 - 2/15...
Hana did the same thing around this time last year didn't they?
Why go with a holiday long weekend to bring down the network??? |

I was actually quite worried when I read the original post, but my KB ATM worked fine last night at KB.
I live on Geoje and there's heaps of foreign engineers here, so maybe that might be the reason its still up and running here.
Also last year on my way for a two month vacation I tried to transfer 8 million won to my Visa account. I found out that I'd inadvertently overstayed by a week. There was a long delay which i took as they were unsure whether to give me my money or not.
Then the KB branch in Seoul just rang my then local KB branch in Ulsan and I was able to transfer my money out of the country straight away. This was after about a 40 minute (and two nervous smokes on my behalf) delay.
Also on Geoje last year I needed a face to face with KB my co-teacher rang them and they agreed to see me after work at 4.45 and I left totally satisfied at 5.30. This would never happen in any bank in a Western country, imagine ringing up a western bank asking for an afterhours meeting because you were at work..... |
