I just read that speedskater Ohno will be competing again in the Winter Olympics this month. It could get interesting again for us here in Korea. |

I just re-watched that race from 2002 where Ahn was eliminated and it still looks fishy to me. I'm not an expert, but Ohno really sold it.
Having said that, Koreans tend to be really bad losers. That might come off as offensive, but it's just my own impressions. Everytime Korea loses a big race/game, there seems to be a conspiracy or something. Look at the ladies handball match in Beijing or the elusive missed 'offside' committed by the Swiss at the world cup in 2006. And national grumbling is fine, but then the pathetic army of Korean netizens goes and embarrasses the nation by crashing servers and threatening competitors. Every country feels robbed at times, but it seems to be every single time and everyone seems to be against them here. One could argue that the use of cheat...I mean 'cunning'....here leads the population to expect other nations to engage in such tactics as well.
But let me say that Korea has a great short track team but hopefully Canada can steal a few medals from them, especially in the men's 500, 1000 and both relays. My prediction is something will happen with Kim Yu-Na leading to a Japanese skater's win and an eventual bloody war. |

I agree, Koreans are bad losers.
Then again, amateurism and gentlemanly pursuits are such foreign concepts for them.
I can't remember Korean games where they shake hands with the opposing team before or after the games.
I can't remember them exchanging jerseys with opposing teams, either. |

Although I agree with Koreans being bad losers, they do have a nice tradition in amateur football here. Before and after the game, both teams line up at the halfway line and players shake each others' hands. This does not happen in Europe! |

I remember watching the race and still not seeing conclusively that the guy cheated.
But then I remember the Roy Jones Jr. fiasco and not feeling the slightest bit bad for the Koreans. |

Wow, someone created a sock when they saw this thread but didn't get his new identity soon enough to respond until this thread had already been buried for almost 2 weeks. I hope it was worth the trouble. |

well its started already!
Im thinking Anton went to the Koreans and said lets play it up for the media get ourselves some free publicity Ill play the bad guy!
Koreans are like.. emmm ok...
so now Anton is all over the news and getting media coverage and the koreans are also getting their names in the papers.. when the games is over they will all get on TV shows and asked WHAT HAPPENED WHAT HAPPENED!
what about that OHNO! and their managers will be like ummmmm
yeah PAY FIRST then we tell the story!
and ONHO who already makes like 6 million dollars a year will just keep his popularity as the American bad boy and keep his sponsors!
well that's what I would be doing anyway hahahahaha
I mean its not like you can smoke pot at a party the night before the games now.. becuase that will just cost you your medal! so better find other ways to make yourself known... like wear stupid clothes??? |

They do that in every single sport in the US. |

In all fairness though the preceeding games had overly favored the americans against the Koreans. 36 of 37 decisions. |

How is it ever "fair" to rob an athlete of his/her rightful victory? Jones was robbed and even Park knew it. |

I think he is a douche. I couldn't care what he did or didn't do to Korea, but the guy looks like a little punk. I don't have time for people like that.
I didn't particularly like when I watched the mens 1500m finals this week from an NBC feed where for 3 minutes, yes 3 minutes while the judges were deciding on who was getting disqualified, the cameras followed him around with his American flag. Say what you will about Koreans, but anyone who pops out their flag before the decisions have been made and they weren't even going to be getting gold...well it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I am glad the other American got the bronze though...he shows a bit more class than the douche. |
