Is you name Pat or Chris? Terry maybe? This thread is useless without a photo.

No... I have a very feminine name...

Actually I heard back from the recruiter and it turns out she mixed up "male" and "female." I was worried for a bit though Razz

They wanted a male? That's rare.

I applied for a job recently that was looking for a Canadian male, which I am. I thought it was bizarre that they could be so specific.

Some company jobs (especially if you are living in an apartment block for employees) prefer a male teacher because it's embarrassing to see the female teacher bringing guys home for the evening (guys bringing girls home isn't a problem). In those settings, everyone knows each other and you can bet that they gossip.

It's rare though. Generally employers want a female teacher. The parents think that women are naturally better with kids, and businessmen just prefer to look at a pretty female teacher.

There are a few who want males. They believe males adapt better to Korean society and tend to spend longer in Korea (finish contracts).
