Can someone help me?
I have to send a PPT 2007 to a prof and want to hyperlink my lesson plans, reference pages, which are all off-line. I have no idea how to do this. Any ideas?
Also is there a cool PPT cafe I can go to? I've seen the Korean ones but my K sucks (sadly) cause there's lots of cool stuff. I want to upgrade my PPT skills from intermediate to advanced but don't know how to go about it. Should I buy a book? Any recommendations?
What about PPT2010. Is it worth trying out? I just figured out how to use 2007.><
Thanks |

The ironic thing about presentation software is the more features they add, the less useful it is. Presentations are much better done simply than to be decked out with all kinds of bells and whistles that do little more than distract from whatever your point was to begin with.
I use OpenOffice Impress, but the process of making a hyperlink is very similar to Powerpoint. To make one, just highlight your text/image and choose insert hyperlink from the drop down menu (there might even be a button, I'm not sure) then choose either the file or URL you wish to link to. |

| ^ That doesn't work. The files are off-line meaning that when I send my PPT to my prof, she won't be able to see my files because they are only on my computer. That's the problem. Basic hyperlinking to websites is not the problem |

| Just put the files in the same directory as the presentation, hyperlink to them and send your prof the whole directory. Zip it all into one file if you have to. |

The zipping part or the moving files part?
For the latter, most of the time you can just right click on something and click "add to zip" or some such and windows will create the zip file for you. If not, there are programs you can download that will make them. TUGZip is a good, free one.
Use either method to turn the directory and all it's contents into one .ZIP file and send that to your prof. Hopefully your prof will know what to do with it.
If you can't move files, well, I probably can't help you. |

The best solution is to host your ppt on http://authorstream.com or something similar.
Make sure your hyperlinks, link to actual webpages. To host a document/mp3/ video/ppt etc... on a webpage, use http://posterous.com (simply email your posterous email address and it will create the web page link direct for the attached file).
Sounds complicated but nothing but.
See this ppt as an example, HERE
