I was reading the chinese off-topic forum and noticed that the people there are alot more light-hearted then the ones on the Korea General Discussion Forum.
Could it be that the people over there are in a more laid-back situation?
Are Foreigners in Korea (especially some on this board) so uptight?

I think there a lot more trolls (a.k.a. shit-stirrers) on this board which keep it pretty lively and interesting some of the time.

Or just maybe all the interesting and lively people came to Korea(I seriously doubt it though )

You should try the Turkey forum sometime. The people who post there are nasty! It doesn't matter what you post or ask them, they come back at you with this major attitude!

Once I wanted to get an idea of the cost of an apartment in Turkey. So I posted a request for people to share "their personal experiences". I asked them to tell me where exactly they lived, what was their rent, and what were the utilities. Seemed pretty simple to me. Nope. People refused to answer me, saying my question was "too broad" and would require an answer "the size of a phonebook". They couldn't get that I wasn't asking them to tell me "the cost of housing in Turkey", I was asking for "specific personal examples!".
I tried several times to clarify my question but I got the same response, from the same few people. I got a little impatient with them and told them basically to "answer the question or stop posting". The I was told off in high style, apparently my "kind are not wanted in Turkey". I wanted to write back: "My kind? You mean people who post a clear and simple question and want a simple answer? Yes, I can see why that would trouble you". But I try never to respond to rude people. I just ignore them.

Another time, I asked why it is necessary for teachers to acquire Turkish work permits in their home countries. I simply wanted to know the reasoning behind it. Well, I was immediately attacked by a few people saying how Turks had to go through so much trouble to visit America, and Americans think they deserve special treatment, it's not fair, etc etc. First of all, I'm not even American, and I didn't mean to offend anyone. One guy even called me a "silly little girl"!

I still read the Turkey forum. But I stopped posting there after incidents like those.

Maybe because the people working in China are all hippies doing it just for the cultural experience.

People don't go to China to save money.

Yeah, a lot of the stress here comes from bosses fucking with us and I don't think I could bring myself to care that much if I was working for Chinese pay in the first place.

True, The pay is something to be desired over there, but you can't say everyone is a hippy looking for the "chinese experience". What about the hippy backpackers that come to Korea for the sole purpose of "saving money" for that trip to China.
And true, Korea has got the money that China doesn't have, but why tolerate the endless harassment that many of us encounter?
Is Korea truly worth the "easy money" that we claim it is?
I'm not knocking Korea because I have found my own little corner of the universe, but that doesn't mean that I will stay in this universe here (or will I?)
But I just hope some people will wake up and see Korea has alot to offer more than a few beers at Gecko's or a fat saving's account after a few years in what they nicely call, "hell"
