Hi,
I intend to teach in South Korea and was aiming for a September/November start. Can anyone give me an idea of when would be the best time to begin applying?
Thanks in advance. |

I'm going in a few days and I started my application process in July, so that gave me about seven months.
I started early though. They wanted to send me in October but I had business to finish here first.
I think it's always good to start early because things will go wrong.
Good luck! |

| a lot of jobs don't start recruiting until 2-3 months before, I was in country and was looking 3 months before my contract renewal time and still there wasn't much available that far in advance, a lot of good jobs came up about 6 weeks before I wanted to start. |

| I want a job in August or September too. But from what I've seen it's hard to get a job more than a couple of months before but keep in mind that the EPIK program has its next intake in September. If you're looking for a public school job, look into that. |

Lots of positions in hakwons and Public schools who missed out getting a NET assigned for the start of term.
IF you have all your documentation in hand then the best time to APPLY is 4-6 WEEKS before you plan to step on the plane.
It wouldn't hurt to start looking now so you know what is out there for when you are actually ready to get on the plane.
Most NON-university postings are advertised 4-6 weeks prior to the start of the job (but many, especially hakwons) end up not being filled so end up as ASAP positions with as little as 7 days notice (illegal but still attempted). |

That's great, thanks for the info!
Just 1 more thing if I can - In terms of having my documents ready, should I get them all straight away or do I need them dated within 6 months of start time, i.e. Police Check. |

90 (or fewer) days prior to your job applications is best. the limit is 6 months on the CRC and in some cases 90 days on the academic transcripts (if they or the envelope is dated). |

Where do you want to work, PUblic school, hagwon, etc? Public schools, you have to apply more in advance, but hagwons, usually they offer jobs one or two months in advance.
I was told that for my uni CBC is good for 6 months. And my transcripts were over 4 years old. And they were ok too. BUt it depends. ASk the place where you-ll be working. |
