So I've been emailing different recruiters found on eslcafe and other sites and I've been getting very limited responses. When someone finally does hit me back on email theyll sound excited to help me out and ask for contact information but when I reply I'll never get a response. I imagine theres only so many ways you can screw up when replying with contact information. So what's the deal?

So you have a better grasp on my situation. I a Korean American with an F-4 visa. Recent college graduate with no real teaching experience. Recently flew out to Seoul thinking it would better my chances.

What? You're an F4 who is in Korea and you're having a hard time? There are so many job ads I see that specify "Kyopo only", often with very high salaries, or "must be in Korea". You require no visa and you fill that niche market. I have a hard time believing how this could be the case.

I had something similar happen for a few weeks. Then I finally got the ball rolling at the end of last week, and I had three interviews last night. Assuming you're being flexible in what you're looking for, as well as persistent, someone in your situation should have no problems.

If you're in seoul already with an f-4 visa, please don't go through a recruiter. You are better off contacting school on your own or if you have friends who teach ask them to see if any schools have opneings or if someone is finishing up their contract and wants someone to take over.

It should not be this hard for you. If you want to go the hagwon route major hagwons do their hiring directly. Google it and try applying directly.

I'm happy to reply that some from Ok Recruiting contacted me about a job in dongdamun(?) at a hagwon called Chungdam(?). I have a friend that works at a branch and he says he loves his job. Hopefully things go well with this position and I'll be one of those people who posts about how he's loving his Korean experience.

He's lucky to be at a good one. I'm at a very unprofessional one. Lured me in saying I would only teach elementary and got here only to end up teaching pre-school, and that's not generally part of CDI. Then when a teacher left early I was thrown into their classes with no real idea of what is supposed to be happening, yet I am supposed to do things the CDI way. Then when they finally tell me (2 minutes before class) what to do, it turns out the Korean teacher has covered half of it. Never mind the fact that I don't have an answer key for the book, which is an old version and not the same as the students anyway, but the computer program we're supposed to use will not show the answers either. The other teachers don't seem to mind that the place is so crazy, but I actually take teaching seriously, and it's frustrating the hell out of me that to do everything in such a chaotic manner. I, also, had met CDI teachers who were quite happy with their jobs. I guess I ended up at the franchise's rotten egg.

I'm looking for a new job now and I've seen quite a few jobs for gypos as well. Many Afterschool programs, for example, ask spec. for a gypo. And i think with your visa, and the shorter work hours there you could work a second part-time job. some p/t jobs in companys pay really well.
Have you been sending your resume the day the job is advertised? because I've noticed that when I started applying to the new jobs only, i got a response. Everyone is saying it's harder this year and I think you need to just make sure your resume gets in the topper part of the pile.
There's one afterschool recruiter on facebook and I noticed that 500 people joined her 'event' to apply for an af job so they're getting bombarded.
