| I live in the boonies, no gym or anything near where I live. I'd like to pick up a small squat rack, any suggestions? |

Squat rack, or simply just squat stands?
If you just need stands, I would build them out of wood (just use google images, also rossboxing's forum has good info on homemade equipment).
If you just want squat stands then IMO it's fairly unsafe to do back squatting still. And in that case, you may just want to do front squats, which don't require any equipment in the first place.
There are a lot of articles online about building home made power racks too. |

Well, for front squats all you need are a bar and plates. Same with overhead squats. While I was in Korea I didn't have access to a squat rack, so I often did one legged squats (and eventually, held dumbbells in my hands). Then for hamstrings and glutes, you can do plenty of exercises without a rack, such as romanian deadlifts (use some cinderblocks or buckets full of cement to rest the bar). Luckily I had access to rubber plates, so I worked on a lot of Olympic style lifting.
Sorry, I don't know where you could buy some supports since I'm not in Korea, but hopefully I've provided you with some useful information. Seriously think about making some wooden supports as they're a simple little project, but will require tools. |
