|
|
I'm sure this has been covered many times, but I've tried using the search engine and nothing comes up that is helpful.
Just going through the main websites, it seems as if USPS is the cheapest, but I want to make sure there aren't other options I don't know about that could be much cheaper.
I'm trying to get ready to move to South Korea and I know there is some stuff that I won't be able to fit in my suitcases.
Can anyone recommend the best methods to ship boxes of clothes, or computer monitors and such to South Korea from the US ?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

Since your saying boxes, you must have a lot of things to ship. I think your real option is USPS land route, i.e by sea, unless you want to pay big bucks. By air or by sea, USPS is probably the only affordable way. |

I really hope you are not going to a hagwon. You might find yourself shipping all that stuff back within 2 months if the school doesnt like you. |

not even close
UPS is usually the superior shipper for larger items because of the cost and their niche for larger items. figuring out how to ship them is the problem... |

The dude is right. Shipping by land/sea is the cheapest option. UPS is expensive compared to the USPS. Now if the OP wants the boxes soon after he arrives, then yes, UPS is probably your best bet. |

If you have boxes of stuff to ship....you might want to re-pack and re-think what you really need.
That being said...I have found that the best way to bring extra stuff is to buy a huge rolling bag or duffel bag, and pack it full up to 1 kilo under the airline limit, then just pay the $100 for the extra bag. You won't find ANYWHERE that will ship 50 pounds for $100.
Similarly, you can send boxes through the cargo dept. of your airline....drop them off at the cargo terminal well before your flight, and then pick them up at the cargo terminal on the other side. |

Carry it in cargo as the last poster said. the days of sea mail are over, my friends, and have been for quite some time. The USPS realized that they could somewhat rectify their own financial difficulties by making it a rip off to deliver packages. |
