Word up, foo's.
Long time ago, years before even considering going to Korea, I somehow got into the game Go, and turned out to be somewhat natural at it - not to say I'll get anywhere far with it, starting aged 19 out of boredom at University.
So I always wanted to pursue it, but in England, when people hear Go, they think of red traffic lights, so I always had to play online - KGS server, of which I was frequently banned for some unknown reason. Something about bad language.
Anyway, I was hoping it would be a bit more lively in S Korea. Perhaps I could just walk up to a man in the street, nod my head in a certain way, and we'd commence battling mid-street...
Also I'm a pretty natural and enthusiastic Tennis and Badminton player. But since It's nigh on impossible for me to make friends, are there clubs like here, where you can just join and play people randomly for a few hours?
사랑합니다

Is this actually off topic or more 'general discussion' material? *rubs chin* |

If it's not off topic, it's at least off topic for the off topic forum, which would make it on topic for the off topic forum. |

You sound like Prof. Andrew Finch at Kyungbuk University.
He came over to Korea to learn Go and ended up writing ESL textbooks.
Koreans pride themselves as world champions of Go (바둑).
바둑 is in newspapers like chess columns in UK.
There's a 바둑 channel on cable.
I guess you've come to the right place. (when you arrive that is) |

Ah, this is great news. Not least because I have been compared to a Professor already. I have a pretty large problem here, in that the majority don't find my interests remotely interesting, so the cultural difference might work to my advantage in this case. |

If you are in Seoul, I am always up for a game. I have a really nice Baduk ban. What's your rank by the way. I am about 5-7 geub(kyu). |
