Hello. I'm looking for info about changing my E2 visa to something else where I can own my own business (Hogwon) without being married to a Korean.
I tried the immigration website and came up short. anyone out there in this situation or anyone know of someone who has their own business and is not married?
Cheers. |

You need to provide 50 million won ($43,650~ USD) from out of country to qualify for a D8 visa. Technically the money you earned in Korea cannot be contributed towards that.
I know there has been the odd poster mention they're on a D8, but I don't know if anyone has tried to transfer their Korean money out and bring it back in. Likely the burden would be on you to prove where the money came from. |

50 million won for your initial investment and you get a D8, investors visa.
There are additional restrictions and requirements (from the education office) if you want to open a hakwon (that relate to the business not the D8 visa).
The Seoul help center can give you all the information you require.

Don't do it.
Unless you really know what you are doing.
If it is a fling, a "great" idea, simply don't do it. |

Not to sound like an *ss, but if you have to ask for this information, you may not be ready to own your own hogwon. |
