Hey all,

This agency (Korean Horizons) posted some postions for public school positons today and I wanted to see if any body has experience applying with them. If so do you know if they are a good agency to apply for positions with? Or can you recommend good agencies to apply with? Thank you for any help.

I applied back in December for their world famous 5 week Gangwon vacation, but got turned down with no explaination other than my application didn't go through. I guess it's worth a try as they must be putting someone in those jobs if they are making money from this drive. This was not the only recruiter that didn't work out for me. I really had to try for a couple months to land a job by applying more than once through more than one recruiter.

I used them, and Alistair is amazing.
He's extremely helpful, and even sent me a jpeg label of my address in both English and Korean, which I've sent to my family and friends, for when they want to send me parcels.
He's also got a lovely accent.

Agreed Alistair is an absolutely amazing recruiter! In my 4th month in of my first year, I emailed him for help and he immediately called up my school and municipal supervisor to resolve things for me. I highly recommend him!

yep! Alistair is great! I went with him when I was applying for a public school position in Gangwondo over a year ago and he was so helpful. Plus he's not just one of those recruiters that leave you high and dry after you've been placed at your school already, he actually maintains contact with you throughout the year and offers help whenever you need it.

Alistair is awesome!
I even went to his Korean-style wedding in Changwon when I was one of his recruits!
That said, the job I got through them ended up not being the absolute best, but truthfully, the recruiters can't always know everything. They did constantly keep in contact and help me to go against the school when it was necessary, so I would still recommend them. There might not be any way to know you are surely going into a good situation, but it's at least good to know that someone will help you if the situation becomes bad. Good luck! Smile

Ugh, I wish people with stop with this "Korean Horizons is amazing" stuff. They are just like most recruiters...they'll work with you and bend over backward for you if you've got what they need to fill a position. If you don't and they think they'll have to actually put in a little effort to find you a position, you'll never hear from them again.

1. I've been here 9 months this week, and Alistair helped me with a paycheck gaffe due to a change in admin duties last week. I hardly think that's just "to fill a position."

2. If you don't have what they need to fill a position, why should they want to help you? It's called quality control.
