Being a musician like I am, I generally like to have my nice big speakers to hear the best stereo imaging and so forth of the music I write.

Here in the UK, this isn't good news for people for the homes I've been in, since they are made out of Papier Mach (older homes tend to be more solid and sound proof), so I generally have to keep the noise to a minimum, or just live with headphones.

How about the apartments there? If it's a particularly bad idea to bring the speakers, I can save myself 6kg of my 30kg limit.

I've lived in a couple of decent officetels that were dead quiet. The only noise came in through the front door. A friend of mine lives in a "garden" apartment, which is basically halfway buried underground and he cranks his tunes up all the time.

Maybe try and find a place in the basement?

Officetel walls are very thin, just like my patience after 3 years of no sleep due to noisy neighbours. Apartments tend to have a proper layer of concrete between the floors at least.

Musician huh! I hope you play Black Metal guitar riffs with vocals and loudly, time for some payback! (just as long as you're not moving into the room beneath my new pad).

The walls are paper thin and everyone hears every little sound. Everyone's a voyeur and they're watching me watch them watch me right now.

Kurtz, Hah, I was only going to take my acoustic due to weight restrictions, but maybe I could ship in a couple of electrics, Giant amp, a piano and a clarinet to keep the neighbours at bay...

Seoulsucker, unfortunately I don't get choice in the matter as I'm sure the majority lack, too. but one can always gamble with crossed fingers.

Dorkothy Parker, I'M watching you watch them watch me watch you right now, that's just the norm for me.

I suppose the votes have it - Leave the speakers behind. only got 1.2kg spare left now anyway, without having to throw all my deodorant out.
