Hi there,

What documents should I take with me to immi. to renew my E2?
Do I need any extra photos etc?

Thanks,

Hi, I had an E2 from one employer then I got a different job. It seems you can renew or you can get a new card. I opted to not renew but get a new card. With that, you get a little slip from the immigration clerk that tells you need to 2 more documents that I cannot recall the exact titles of and you will need the schools business registration number. The office in Seoul provides a fax machine and if your school does not have a good English speaker, use the desk clerks to translate the names of the documents. I had to make 3 trips to get it done. I'll take a hit on one wasted effort.

Are you staying at the same school? If so, a copy of the new contract, a letter ffrom the school. There will be a form or two to fill out when you arrive at immigartion. Dulouz is actually talking about an ARC, not an E2.

Okay, so now I am confused. E2, ARC? E2 is just the visa right?
I'm gonna stay for another six months, after completing my year's contract, but I am leaving SK for a couple of weeks for vaca.
Another question, I will have no return ticket to my homeland upon re entry as I initially entered on a tourist visa. Should I get one? Will I need one?

Thanks for your help,

Sb

i'll stay out of this except to say... i ran 3 times to japan to renew my tourist visa and nothing was ever said about the return ticket home.

although it was mentioned to me at some stage that i would need a return ticket to enter on a tourist visa..

if they ask.. tell them you are coming over to work and you will get the required work done from your school and local immi office and be back out in a few weeks to get the e2... or you are coming over to look for work and the school is responsible for all travel after you start

that said.. i have been 3 times and it was never a problem.. not even mentioned

Go to immigration and give them a copy of your contract and whatever the boss gives you. Tell them that you need to extend your sojourn. They will have a form there that you will need to fill out. You will also have to pay 30,000W.

If you are going home very soon, you will also need to buy a re-entry permit. I had a multi-entry visa, but as I recently extended my sojourn, it is now expired, so if I want to take a trip out of the country this year I will have to buy a new multi-entry stamp for my passport. You will have to do the same, although if you're only planning one trip out of the country, a single re-entry stamp will do.

Not if you stay with the same school.
