Take a look at the picture at the link

A man yesterday hunts for his pair of luxury shoes among many stolen by a thief who preyed on large funeral halls. A man surnamed Park was arrested by investigators from Suseo Police Precinct in southern Seoul on charges of stealing the shoes from funeral halls, where many people take off their shoes to pay their respect. The shoes were found in Parks storage. [YONHAP]

At lease people will have a good reason/excuse for not taking off their shoes at funeral homes.

Its 2010. Korea has to keep up with the soaring crime rate.

All restaurants, and other places where you have to remove your shoes should have small lockers/keys where you can lock your shoes in before entering the establishment.

Even I hate taking of my 200,000won Dr. Martins and having to leave them at the doors of some restaurants - there is no guarantee that they will still be there when I get back - except that I have very large feet, so most Koreans wouldn't steal my shoes as they are too big.

Park either had a serious shoe fetish or he was going to make a great second-hand shoe salesman.

I didn't know people bought second hand shoes? especially Koreans.

Maybe you are, but what about the rest of us? I can smell them through the computer so they must be bad. Laughing Laughing

Well, if you aren't wearing your Gucci loafers when you go out to floor-seating establishments, you should be fine. As for the smell of my own feet, if you ever wonder where those odors that everyone living in Korea complains about come from...

have any of you had your shoes stolen? pretty much sucks...especially this time of year...
Stealing shoes from funeral homes? ridiculous!

Not only are people mourning the loss of a loved one...they have to mourn the loss of their shoes.

I wear extremely beat up blatant forgeries of better brand sneakers. Perhaps that's why I've never had a problem. If I'm ever out in public wearing my custom made leather shoes, I'll be careful. (Only really use those for job interviews, though.)

Man, stealing shoes from the grieving is stone cold. This guy can't be right in the head.

Give Park a break. He's his family's sole provider.

I've heard of Koreans who went to rural places in Brazil having their shoes stolen by locals.

Anyone ever wore the wrong pair of shoes home after leaving a restaurant?

Driving with bare feet can hurt. Yeah, this shoe thief deserves at least some "scared straight" time in prison.

I had a fresh new pair of Nike's stolen off my feet in Prague, Czech Republic. Of course, I had blacked out at table in the corner. Haha. Damn Becherovka liquor. That night was also the first snow of the winter. Not a fun tram ride and walk back to the dorm.

It is a shoo-in that the man was a podophile.

Podophilia, or foot fetishism, is among the most common paraphilias, or sexual deviations. Heck, I'll even admit to liking a nice pair of shoes, although generally they are at the end of a nice pair of legs.

This incident underscores the need for better sex education. The man should receive treatment, not jail.

Yeah, he was only trying to stand on his own two feet.
