For all you Net's who did the Korea thing and have since left: Knowing what you know now, would you do it again? Personally, I lean toward option #4. I like my new country much more.[/list]

Being a friendly and outgoing person I was quite stifled there. I realize it now that I've gone. I'm in Vietnam now and folks are much nicer. Considering the fact I'm American and we (not me) were shooting at each other 45 years ago, that says alot. In Korea I was looked down on and hell, didn't we help them with a problem some years back? Hmmm. Oh well, life goes on. Enjoy!!!
Very Happy

Although I'm still in Korea, I know many ESL teachers who left but who would rather come back to Korea working in a non-ESL related job.

That should have been an option in your poll.

I lived in Korea for three years, and at the end of my last contract, (September 2009), I left and took a teaching job in Italy. I love my job, (I'm doing much more than teaching ESL) and I love the city I'm living in, so it was a great move for me.
I enjoyed Korea, but I could never get past the hideous work culture. It really wore me down and made me bitter towards Korea as a whole.
So that being said, I cast my vote for number 4. I would love to come back and visit, but I wouldn't want to work, especially in the English language field. I loved Korea as a country, but the work culture is a nightmare.
I agree with the other poster who said that you should change your poll and add a question about coming back to work in a non-ESL field. I'm sure you'd have a few people deciding that option.
