I've been in Ulsan a few months and notice some species of whale (can't recall now) is the city mascot and their migration route passes Ulsan. I'm from Canada and there are whale watching tours off Victoria. I've never been out in a Zodiac inflatable boat to get near the whales and see them lift their tails, 'spyhop', etc. |

That was when Ulsan was a principal centre for whaling in Korea. Those species you see were almost hunted to extinction by the Koreans. Ulsan has a whale festival sometime in May I think. There is no chance to go whale watching. |

You can have the chance to eat whales while you are in ULsan. My one boss took me to a whale restaurant. I had raw minke whale.
If you go to the fish market in bang-o-jin you can buy some. I also saw a fair bit of whale meat for sale in kyoungju over the weekend at the festival there. |
