|
|
I have had some interviews recently with some hagwons who are very concerned with the fact that I am in my late twenties, and want to know if I have any children or plan on having any. These kinds of questions are not a small part of the interview, but take up at least 50% of the interview. I understand that personal questions are asked in interviews in Korea, even to Koreans who are going for office jobs, but I have been told that it is usually only one or two personal questions while the other 6 or 7 are related to the role and previous experience.
Am I wrong in thinking that hagwons are nervous over hiring a woman who is my age and married because they don't want the teacher to fall pregnant during the contract?
Or have I just had some bad luck and am worrying over nothing?
(Note: I never give them any indication of any family planning, I just confirm that I can work there for at least a year).
What are the experiences of other late twenties/early 30s female F2-1 visa holders?
Thanks |

| Your first problem is working for hagwons. You have an F, what r u thinking of? Lie lie lie. All Korean women do this. If you are even thinking of having a kid they won't hire you. Be adamant about not having a kid, then have one. |

Hi,
Thanks for the clarification.
I really enjoy working with young children, that's why I choose teaching over office work.
If I had had the chance I would have persued an Early Years PGCE in the UK (age 3-7), but hubby lost his job in the uk due to cut backs so now we are going back to korea. |
