How do you go about getting multiple re-entry visa? Is it better to get one if you plan on visiting other countries other than Korea? Is this better than buying two return tickets Ex: (Japan-Korea Korea-Japan) not to get hassled at the border? Where do you get one? At the airport before you leave?

I can only assume from your questions that:
a) you aren't in Korea
b) you don't have a visa
c) you haven't traveled very much.

If you are in Korea on an E2 AND you plan to leave on a vacation THEN you must get a re-entry permit before you can return and continue work.

If you leave and do not have a re-entry permit then your work visa WILL be canceled when you depart and you will NOT legally be allowed to work when you return.

You need your ARC, passport, application and 50k won to get a multi re-entry permit.

You need your ARC, passport, application and 30k won for a single use re-entry permit.

I was in Korea 10 years ago and did travel extensively when I was there and never got a re-entry or multiple re-entry on my visa. Maybe it's because I was on a tourist visa and the laws have changed since that's why I'm asking.

Now...I'm talking about a tourist visa Not an E-2. Can you get a multi re-entry on Tourist visa? I was stopped in Japan 10 years ago on a tour, and they wouldn't want to let me back in Korea without a return ticket or onward ticket to somewhere. After some convincing with my tour guide they finally let me go, but I had some concerns.

Question;

What are you referring to ARC?
Do you get this multi re-entry at the airport before boarding in Korea?

Thanks again for the information ttompatz

There is no re-entry permit without a visa or an ARC. There never has been.

If your plan is to travel around on tourist stamps and not a real visa then fill your boots. Just remember that you need onward passage for each country you plan to travel to or may be denied boarding when you attempt to get on the plane.

In plain Jane...

I'm planning to travel with a tourist visa . Can I get a multi re-entry, if I pay for it? Where do I get one? And again what is an ARC?

Let's keep it simple...

That's it for this thread

Thanks

Lets get it straight then. IN PLAIN JANE LANGUAGE:

You are NOT traveling on a tourist visa. You have no intention of getting a visa prior to your travel.

From your previous posts you plan to enter Korea (and other countries) on a visa waiver (no visa required) stamp on arrival. Be careful in your travels. Not all countries allow visa free entry for tourism or short stays.

As such THERE IS NO RE-ENTRY PERMIT. You don't/won't have a visa nor will you have/obtain/require an ARC.

ARC = Alien Registration Card - required for ALL visa holders with a period of stay longer than 90 days.

As a Canadian you get a 6 month allowed period on your visa waiver (B2) entry.

Be aware that working on your tourist entry stamp will get you arrested, fined and sent out of the country. Immigration detention centers are not nice places to stay.

First, I do apologies as I looked it up and you're right it's a waiver stamp and not a tourist visa...Canadians get 6 months. And I'm not planning to work, or teach I'm aware of the consequences. This is a travel forum after all.

I looked it up here and it says all foreigner who stay longer than 90 days must obtain a residence certificate which would be an (ARC) right. Can you get this at the airport on arrival?

I will leave this link in case somebody else needs more info.

It says here that re-entry permits and ARC may be required for tourist. I'm guessing tourist visa and waiver stamp which is me.

Canadians on the 6 month waiver stamp are exempt from the requirement to get an ARC or to register.

It says here 1st paragraph ;

http://dfait-maeci.gc.ca/korea/visascanadians-en.asp

"All foreigners who stay in Korea more than 90 days must obtain residence certificates".

I presume when you say ARC it is a Residence Certificate

So don't take MY word for it. Check with the real authority, the KOREAN immigration service ( http://www.immigration.go.kr ).

I would take their word over the dfait website.

I speak from personal experience and many years of experience dealing with Kimmi.

If you are on a CANADIAN on a 6 month stamp you do not need to nor can you get an ARC.

If it worries you, AFTER you arrive, drop into your local immigration office, waste a morning and let the officer at the desk tell you the same thing.
