I guess I need to get a proof of residency thing from the consulate? Has anyone done this? Is it easy?

I assume the reason you want/need it for a public school job to avoid the taxes for your 1st two years.

IF that is the case then you file a form 8802 (if I remember correctly) with the IRS and they send you back the form you want.

If you need it to qualify for an E2 because you are NOT a US passport holder then your "green card" is what you seek.

takes a while to process. ABout 45 days. I just filed mine about 2 weeks ago and hope to get it around May ish.
