I'm deciding to go all in after living with crappy e-mart speakers for the last few years. My current thought process is something along the lines of:
Marantz SA-7001-KI CD Player
Marantz PM-7001-KI Amp
Wharfedale Diamond 9.4 Speakers
That is coming in at around 1,600,000 with interconnects and speaker cable.
Any other options I should be looking at? I live in the sticks and it is difficult to audition so anyone with any experience would be great.
Thanks. |

The great thing about modern hi-fi is that all the reputable hi-fi manufacturers are making great products at low prices these days. You can't really go wrong. A $1000 hi-fi in 2010 sounds as good as a $6000 hi-fi 20 years ago.
The only thing you can check is if your amp, CD player and speakers have a distinctive tonal characteristic. You wouldn't want to match all bright sounding components, or all lush sounding components together. You'll need to read a few expert reviews for that info.
One thing I can tell you for sure is that I have owned a few pairs of B&W speakers and they were all fantastic. Wharfdale have improved in recent years (they were awful all through the 90's).
Read the reviews....

Thanks for that.
Does anyone know if there is a certain area of Seoul that has Hi-Fi stores?
I could make a trip this weekend. |
