I just got an offer from CDI, but the hourly rate is at 30,000. The monthly is at 2,500,000. My cousin who worked for CDI said don't take an hourly rate of less than 35,000. Should I not accept but ask for a higher salary or is 30,000 normal? Just fyi, I am an English major from a top 25 school, if that makes a difference.

CDI pays higher than most hakwons, but I am not asking if their rate is good or not relative to the general jobs out there, but rather asking about if the rate is good or not in this particular situation.

My cousin who had no experience and was not an English major (if that plays any part) is telling me to ask for a salary of 35,000/hr. I got 30,000/hour, so I want to know if 35,000 is unheard of and if it isn't, what do you need to have. She did end up working for a central branch.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have a friend that works at a CDI and gets 35 but he got his job three years ago, I'm sure a lot has changed since. My other friend came out last sept and is getting 31 at a different CDI branch. I got offered a bullshit 25 so I wouldnt complain to much about 30.

Has anyone negotiated with CDI for higher pay? Is it wise? Could you even do it?

If you're working full-time, it's not too shabby. Plus academies aren't paying as high in some cases nowadays. I think CDI have been lowering their wages this year/in the last couple of years.

I'm assuming you'd have to pay our own rent. You'd probably have 2.7 or 2.8 million clear before paying your utilities. Depends how many hours you get.
