|
|
I have been using xpeed for a few years now and only recently realized that I consistently get worse latency than any of my friends here in Korea... I get ~150 ping when my friends are getting ~70 ping to the same servers! I've contacted LG about it but they give me the run-around, even after they sent a guy to my house and he confirmed that everything is working "properly" on my end of things, they still deny responsibility. They want to charge me a penalty to cancel my service so I can sign up somewhere else!
I'd like to get an idea of what other users on this board are experiencing with their internet providers. Could you please take a moment to go over to www.speedtest.net and perform their basic test to either the server in Changchun, China or Tokyo, Japan.
With LG Xpeed / 8:30pm / Tuesday the 23rd I get:
330 ping to China!! and 170 to Tokyo.

I haven't found speedtest as good as it used to be.
Try this local Korean one:
http://speed.nia.or.kr/
if you have an iptime its often linked in the pages from it. A couple activex, but it usually works fine for me.
you never know what is happening on the undersea lines from moment to moment.
The front page even tells you the average for various providers right now.
most are close to each other. Megapass is winning today. |

the undersea lines are where the problem is. Or, more specifically, the way LG connects to them. I know all sorts of wonky stuff happens to internet connections when it goes international, but for my friends to get half my ping to the same IP address at the same time seems wrong. The LG guy even said that XPEED is a new company and their lines are not as developed as SK or KT, so its a matter of course that they get poorer connectivity internationally.
I have compared my connection to three others here in Korea and it has turned up lacking each time. I would like to get more comparisons to form a clearer picture of the problem. Maybe even get other LG users a a control group. Could be my apartment's wires? Dunno. I just wanna get this fixed so that I can compete in Modern Warfare 2! |

I've had a few issues with X-speed and we've only had it for a month. We moved into a new place and we lost our Sky Life (the building we are in is facing the wrong direction...wtf) so we got internet cable.
Anyways....
