Is it typical to get a single entry E-3 visa?
How quick / easy is it to get exit and reentry stamps? |

Pretty sure it depends on your nationality. Americans normally get multiple, Canadians single. Other countries... not so sure.

E-3 ?? Research (연구) Researcher ??
Yes, it is typical for most people to get a single entry visa (Americans are the exception).
It is also JUST as easy to get a re-entry stamp at the same time as or any time AFTER you have your ARC.
30k for a single re-entry
50k for a multi-use permit.
Free if you are British.

I've never heard of an E3 Visa....
If you're an American, I know you can designate on the Visa Application form at the consulate if you want a Multiple or Single entry. If you're planning on traveling while in Korea, just get the multiple. It's the same price regardless, and it saves you from making an extra trip to immigration once you get to Korea. |

I suppose it could be a visa for research ... I suppose I'm not legally entitled to teach privates to supplement my income while I'm on this gig right? ... So it seems I'll have to make a trip to immigration and get a multiple-entry stamp, as I want to do a bit of traveling this year ... I'm not going to be based in Seoul. Do they have immigration offices elsewhere around the country? |

Sorry to interrupt/hijack the thread, if my ARC card was issued at Suwon immigration, could I get my multi re-entry stamp in Seoul? |

I dont see any reason why not. You'll still be on a national database of somekind. |

NO.
A multi re-entry will ONLY BE ISSUED by the office that has jurisdiction over your area (the one that issued your ARC) or on-line.
You can get a single at your local office, the airport or on-line (but on-line has it's own set of problems to deal with).

Yes, there is an immigration office in each region of the country. The BEST time to get your multi re-entry permit is AT THE SAME TIME that you apply for your ARC (you can do both at the same time since your ARC is required to get a re-entry permit).
Simply tick the extra box on the top of the form (tick the box for the registration (ARC) and also tick the box for re-entry permit (multi). Coat will be 10k for the ARC and 50K for the multi-entry permit (60k won total).

Just FYI, I'm an American and my first visa was a single entry. I made sure my second year I got a multiple entry. So Americans don't automatically get multiple entry visas. Be sure and bring it up when you get yours. |
