|
|
Can anyone help me out here? I've tried using my card from the US and Peru. I'm at a 7-11. I swip the card, input my PIN and it says working. And then it says the transaction cannot be completed.
What's going on?
I've checked my accounts. Nothing's been withdrawn.
Why aren't my cards working?
Thanks! |

| Hm, ok. I hadn't thought of that. Any idea where Global ATMs usually are? |

Many of the larger bank branches (with multiple ATM machines in them) usually have one that is labeled "global" or "International".
You can also usually find one in or near main doors of the subway stations around Seoul.
There are a couple at the exit of Suwon Station as well (across the street from the station).

Surprisingly, you can just go into the store you would use the money at, and they will swipe it for you, make you sign and it works out.
I have never had problems doing this. Online however, when I try to use my debit card it won't work. So, I have to charge my credit card and then just pay online.
You could set that up also. Then you won't lose money. |

Ok, I'll try the bank again. I've been there twice already. This is SO frustrating. I saw that they had domestic card only. I only tried one ATM.
I can't believe this is so hard. I have my bank passbook, and put it in, and enter my code, and that won't work either. People say that I need a ATM card as well. The person at the bank said just a passbook.
This is nuts. I have three thigs from THREE different continents and nothing is working. Will banks be open on Monday?
I guess I'm going to be going around to the banks now. Just as soon as I stop crying and look decent.

Ok, It worked. I think that this should be a lesson to all. DON?T just bring a debit or credit card.
I literally went to FOUR banks and One 7-11 before I got it to work. I tried 12 ATMS in the banks with my US Paypal Business Debit card. NEVER WORKED. You can be sure I'll be writing them a nasty letter.
I tried my Peruvian HSBC card at 12 ATMS and that didn't work either. It did at the 7-11. I don't know why. Go figure, first world Paypal doedsn't work, but Third world Peruvian one does. My husband will never let me forget this.
The other ATMS said that they accepted foreign cards.
So, yea, I have 30,000 won and that should get me through the weekend and the move. I will also be going in on Tuesday and asking why the heck I can't get money out with just a passbook at a bank!
Another thing, some of the ATMS asked for a SIX digit PIN. Mine is only 4. Don't know if that played a part in it. |

| I was assured that if I had a 6 digit PIN I could use my Korean passbook at the ATM and take out money. For some reason that's not working. Do you need a passbook AND ATM card to take out money via ATMs? |
