I've noticed recently on these forums that a lot of people are putting their own comments before a quote. It seemed before that one would comment after a quote. Anybody else notice this? Is there a reason? I much prefer the comments after a quote; seems to make more sense to me. |

I think the idea is that the previous comments are already the context into which the current comments are being introduced. The quote is actually unneccessary but remains due to hitting the quote button at the time of reply. They are not deleted as a courtesy. The only trouble is that the thread becomes too convoluted and the narrative divided in a way that a reply's antecedent is unclear. In this case leaving the quote is preferred but secondary.

I'm going to invent a time machine, go back in time, and prevent you from killing the fun in this thread by convincing my past self not to sleep with that schizophrenic woman at the truck stop.

I noticed that too late and tried to delete it, but alas.

And now they say we'll never forget what he learned
As we were mean to him but he never burned
Just singing, "love lives forever!"
