Hello everyone,

Im thinking of buying a new laptop before my old one bites the dust.

Is it just me or laptop prices much cheaper back home? I thought it might be a bit weird... I mainly checked on Gmarket which generally has good prices.

Would I be able to find much cheaper deals in Yongsan? cause when I went there to find an external hard drive, I found the prices on Gmarket to be cheaper.

Also, if I were to buy a laptop in Korea, could I get Windows 7 in Korean instead of Korean? is that an option?

Also, are there any suggestions on what type of laptop to get? Any help is much appreciated

To get a good deal in Yongsan you have to get away from the I'park mall. Prices get better when you get to the terminal building and better yet when you get over to the son-in plaza (for anything - not just laptops).

Laptop prices are BETTER in North America than they are here.
They are similar to pricing in Europe or elsewhere in SE Asia.

English win7 is not likely.

Are they that much better back home? especially if you factor in the fact that you would have to convert you won to $$ and then there would be tax back home..?

I bought the English version of Windows 7 Home Edition in Son-In plaza. They had both OEM and retail versions. They are completely original and in the original wrapping/box. Just go into the shops and ask around.

Or you could get Windows 7 Ultimate and you can change the language to English when installing but that of course is expensive.

The price difference is in the 10-20% range.

If you are going home and coming back, then wait.
If you are at home, get it there if you have the cash.

IF you are here, buy a cheap desktop and pocket the savings.

IF you are here it is NOT worth it to buy at home (or on line) and ship it here.
The added costs exceed the price difference from buying it here.

Yes, English Win7 is available here but not usually pre-installed on a laptop. You would have to pay extra for it or use a pirated version.
