Hey everyone. I am hoping for someone's help here.

Around 1990, there was an awesome arcade game I am hoping to find through an emulator. Maybe someone knows the name.

It was a shooting game, similar to Contra. What made it cool was, as you progressed through the level, you got keys. After killing the boss, you could exchange the keys for new weapons. Such as a spray gun, fire cannon, etc.

Anyone know the name of this game?

Slightly OT, what was the deal with Heads Up 7-Up? Does anyone remember how to play? Suppose I could find a way to use it in class?

Are you telling me I am twisted? I am pretty sure that's not the name of the game.

I've played heads up 7up many times here with kids. they love it. get 7 kids, (or 5 if its a smaller class) and bring them to the front of the room. Explain to the kids that they put their heads down on the desk and thumbs up. Then the 7 "pickers" go around and touch one kid's thumb. The word being "touch" not smack as a lot of them will do. You have to remind the kid's whose thumbs get touched to put their thumb down so they don't get picked twice. After the 7 are done picking, they go back to the front of the room. Everyone goes heads up and the 7 picked students stand up and try to figure out who their pickers are. Remember?

With keys? Maybe you're thinking of the original Duke Nukem or Commander Keen games?
