|
|
I need some advice.
I have been working for an English Village for about 3 months and I have just been offered a job at an Elementary school in Busan. Since my daughter will be attending the school, my current employer have agreed to issue me a letter of release.
If I have this letter, can I transfer my E2 visa to my new school without having to do the visa run?
On the letter of release my last working day is March 5 and my new school wants me to start on March 8. Will this at all be possible. If I have to leave the country, how long will this process take. I know that the visa issuance number takes about 7 working days.
I am scared to sit without an income for too long, because I have to repay my current school the airfare as well as some other cost on my last day of work.
Any advice will be appreciated. |

There is generally not supposed to be any time between finishing one contract and beginning another but I understand immigration might be flexible on this. Anyway I'm sure the public school should be able to give you a contract with March 5th or 6th as your starting date. You'll just have to extend your visa by a day or two next year finish your contract.

Thank you for the information.
This is the information I just got from another site.
" If you leave the school within 9 months to transfer to another school, you should cancel your E2 visa with your current employer at the Korean Immigration Office.
You must submit all the documents including apostilled criminal record and university degree to the KIO to get a New E2 visa for new school you will work for."
I am confused? |

You can't transfer to another Hagwon before 9 months but you can transfer to a public school. I understand why you might be confused but trust me you will be able to transfer your visa to a public school. |

To transfer your visa you will need the following documents for immigration:
An employment contract from new employer (must be signed and stamped by school)
-Notice of appointment
-A copy of school registration and business registration from new
employer.
-Guarantee letter (from new school)
-Letter of release from school |

I had a release letter, and had to get another one because my last day of work was not on it. Also make sure that you take the dated release letter and your new contract with the starting date on it to immigration no later then a week after you have left the old job. If this is not done in a week you may have to pay at least 100,000 per day fine for each day you are late.
Oh, one more thing: each immigration office can make their own rules. |

I was told by immigration that in order to transfer your visa you need to spend 6 months at your school. So not 9 but 6. They told me this less than a month ago. |
