is anyone working at a public school able to hook up their macbook to the school network?!?!?
ive been here 6 months now, working at a public school and tried to use my mac in school. they gave me an ip address and everything, but for some reason, my laptop wasn't recognizing it. so i was stuck with an old, shitty laptop at one school, and absolutely NO internet at the other...
new semester's starting and they just hooked up wireless in my english office.. so i thought i'd be able to finally connect my mac instead of using the super slow school one!!! WRONG. i STILL need a special IP address (dont know anything about computers) and some sort of net-client to be able to use my personal computer at school. none of my teachers know how to explain this to me. has anyone had to do this/can you tell me how?
thanks! |

If the signal is secured, you need a password to get onto the network. At my school, the wifi was unsecured so I was able to assign myself an IP address on the network.
You will probably need a static IP address and the DNS server numbers. You can get these from someone's else PC. |
