I really need some advise and its complicated.
Basically, I have an Irish passpost but have never actually lived in Ireland. It was through a relative. Instead, i grew up in the UK.
I now live in South Africa.
So, where do i get CBC from?
Help! |

Well I moved here just over six months ago and just have a temporary residence permit in my passport.
What do you think? |

I think the important thing is where you lived. If you don't have a U.K. passport, but graduated from a U.K. university, you may need to get a CBC from the U.K. AND from the country of your passport, Ireland. |

No experet but my understanding is all they care about is that you get one from the country your passport is from.
I hadn't lived there for 8 years but still had to do it...they had NO interest in a check from where else I have lived.
I have read about a similar case to yours, someone born in one place and then left at a few months old. The problem with the UK in this case is you need an address there for the check. You also need to 'prove' this is yours by having documents with your name and the address.
There is a Facebook page with info for UK people, you may get more info there.

Well then, I suggest you be very, very quiet about your time in the U.K. Get a CBC from Ireland you will need it. You may also need one from South Africa too. If you are in a hurry and don't want to get jerked around, I would suggest that you submit both. Otherwise, you can be our guinea pig and see if they demand one from South Africa too.
I suspect that they will. |

But how do I get one from Ireland if I have never lived there? What address do I provide? |

Immigration rules are the following:
You must always get a CRC from the country of the passport you intend to be obtaining the visa to Korea and travelling to Korea on. In your case this would be your Irish passport.
You can only get your diploma apostilled by the country it was earned. |

Thanks for everyones help. I think Ill have to do some more research.
But if anyone has any information about getting a CBC without actually living in a country then I would appreciate it. Also, if anyone knows if i can apply for a CBC from Ireland whilst I am still in South Africa then that would be great. Thanks! |
