I love these things.. just add milk and shake. But they've been taken off the shelves lately. Melamine?
Anyone seen them around? I'd like to scavenge them up before they disappear completely. |

| Sorry, can't help, but I have to ask. Where were you getting it before? Because sometimes it seems, and other teachers have said this too, like Homeplus secretly watches us, and whatever item we really, really like, they discontinue. |

That's hilarious about homeplus - I don't think it's true but it does seem that way.
OP - I've never seen the stuff that's in your pic - it looks like a neat product though if all you do is add milk....
You know the Korean Pizza / Pancake known as "Kimchi Jeon" That's pretty much pancake mix and it cost about 2000Won for a bag that'll make quite a few pancakes.
Every Korean Grocery store carries that stuff - it's just a pancake mix powder. It'll do fine for pancakes that's all I ever used. Just add water. |

Do what I do-make it the old fashiioned way! No preservatives and you know what's going in it and exactly how much!
Pancakes (Betty Crocker recipe)
1 cup of flour
3/4 cup of milk
2 tablespoons oil
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
Mix well. Add 1/2 cup fruit if desired.
Pour in pan.
Flip.
Put on plate.
Add syrup & butter
ENJOY!
Your pancake shake thing is vanilla flavored. Add vanilla if you want.

What, can't I eat out of the pan?? Thanks for this mate. I do enjoy homemade pancakes, but the reason I like these things is because they're quick and easy, and let's face it: I'm one lazy SOB. The mix is already measured out and you pour milk up to the marked line. If it's me, I usually use half and throw the container in the fridge for the next morning.

I suppose if you wanted to save yourself the time you could pre-mix your dry ingredients and store in an air tight container. Then measure your liquids and add egg.
I agree it is easier to just add milk but I read somewhere that Aunt Jemima pancake mix has more sodium than a Big Mac. That's reason enough to take the extra 5 minutes to do it homemade. |

The hardest part of making pancakes isn't mixing the ingredients, it's getting the skillet to the right temperature so that they come out right, but if you have an oven, try this recipe. It never fails me.
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
3 Tbsp butter or margarine (but you can get by with less if you need to)
Preheat oven to 425
Melt the butter in the skillet making sure to coat the sides
Whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, and flour.
Pour batter into skillet.
Cook on the stove until the edges bubble, then put in oven for 10-12 minutes. |

Illysook, funny you should mention that oven trick as I used it today with French toast and it worked great.
To get pancakes just right the way I like them, I tilt the pan as I'm pouring the mixture so they thin out around the edges and get that nice brown crispy ring. |
