I always go straight up to my class in the mornings, but am wondering if I should go to the teacher's room first? I often don't see any co-teachers until much later in the day. (Of course, I'm hoping that now that classes have started, this may change...?)
Where do you go when you start your day in the public schools? |

I just go to my classroom, unless I want coffee. My co-teacher and I share the English classroom in my school, but if she's not at school I won't see any teachers until class starts. And if there's no class that day I may not see anyone all day. |

Usually in the gutter wiping the soju off my chest! Slowly I pick myself up and drag myself to school. Ha ha.... |

don't you have your own desk in the teacher's office (or one of them?)
Mine happens to be in the main teacher's office. This (the location of your desk) will depend on where your dept is.
I only go to my English room/zone when I have a class, or unless I otherwise want to spend time in there alone.. or take a nap in the backroom, etc.
I'd recommend hanging around the teacher's room for social reasons. (even if you rarely interact with anyone else while being there) Otherwise you may be thought of as , shy, a recluse, or worse. (like unfriendly) |

No, I don't believe I do. I think most teachers spend time in their own homeroom classes. I will talk to my co-teacher about it today, though, and get her thoughts. She's relatively new at being an English teacher, too, so... it's been interesting. |

really>??
that imo would be most unusual. I suspect most PS are set up in a similar way, with teachers having their own desks in teacher's offices, which is where they have their desks.. stuff.. books, laptops, personal items, etc.
the only time teachers in my school go to any classroom is when they have class. |

My school doesn't have an office for teachers. Teachers use their homerooms. There are 2 English zones in my school. I share one with my head coteacher. We each have our own desk and computer. I like it this way. I go to the teacher room for tea of coffee and to say hello at least twice a day, in order to be social, but usually not before the first class. |

As long as you are seen by ALL the teachers routinely, you may not need to pass by the office every morning.
Smile, say greetings to all when passing, make yourself seem approachable, make small talk when you can and it's possible to avoid the office on your way in. |

I typically stop by the teacher's room to grab a cup of Joe and briefly chat with whoever is in there. I don't mind doing it and have found that it goes a long way and can often be enjoyable. |

I like having a teacher's office.
People watching is one of my favorite things to do, and by this I don't necessarily mean sneaking some peeks at some of the more attractive teachers in the school (we really don't have too many anyways), but I like watching what people do, how they react, to what, etc etc
Much harder if one doesn't know Korean (and I don't) but I can still gleam some kind of info on on'es personality here and there from this stuff.
my last VP was very often a big kid at heart, with a great sense of humor, so this really helped matters and kept the atmosphere fairly loose. The new one strikes me kind of a dour sourpuss, but it's too early to really tell.
the cool thing about having another desk and an entire English zone (with a backroom I can crash in) is that I can always "escape" there if/when I want to or have to.
Like when the weather starts warming up and they keep the windows shut as the big windows heat up the entire office like a furnace.
(though I've already bought a small personal fan that I keep on my desk for that purpose ) |

I wish there was a teacher's room at my school! Every grade has their own office with tea, coffee, refrigerator, etc. So each grade tends to keep to themselves. I'm in an office with three others so it's not too bad, though the only social time I get with some of the other teachers is during volleyball or tennis (or drinking, of course).
I've got a desk up in the English room but I never use it because I'd get too lonely. Phenomenal place for naps, though! |

that happens with some of the smaller teacher's offices at my school.
I happen to be in the big/main one, the one with the VP in it. |
