So I bought this electronic cigarette. Here's a pic http://www.ecigtech.com/images/product/RN4081-AD.jpg . After the cartridges ran out, I went and picked up some vegetable glycerin at a health food store to use as a base to make my own liquid to recharge the cartridges. (VG is organic - used in alot of foods - and it's what creates the 'smoke' that you exhale). I mixed in a little vanilla extract, with nice effect.
So I dunno how long I'll be on this kick, but I'm using it at the moment to try to quit regular smokes. No tar (you can buy a nicotine base/additive if you want), no second hand smoke,....well, read a distributor's outline of all the benefits:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/285104548/RN4081.html
(the site won't let me copy text, but go down to "Features". Only then will you be able to understand - for example, #6 is "There is no cigarette fume in the room or in the car after you smoking it and you can smell perfume in the sky").
So anyway, anybody ever tried an e-cig? |

That's kind of odd.
Does it actually do anything for you? I mean, addiction-wise, does it satisfy anything?
I quit with the patch -- just worked my way down -- so I'll not need one of these, curious though they are. |

I'm odd. I have O.D.D.

It feels like you're smoking, pretty much. I guess for me it's the physical actions involved - holding a cig, dragging off it, exhaling a cloud. An e-cig works for that.

I'm not absolutely sure, either, but so far I can see how this could be a crutch while giving up the butts. |

I am very interested in quitting and, like you, I think this might serve as a useful crutch while getting through it. Where did you buy this is you don't mind me asking? |

I bought mine at a smoke shop in Florida. Then I started researching stuff a little. I was surprised that there are many sites like this:

I don't know the term, but the brand is Nicorette and you can buy it from any pharmacy. |

In the US, the patches are called Nicoderm. They worked really well for me.
Nicorette is the "gum" (here, anyway) and I hated it. It's chewy like gum, but you don't chew it like gum. You chew it 7 times, hold it between your gum on the outside of your mouth (like chewing tobacco) until it tingles, then do it again... the instructions said it takes half an hour to kill one piece.
Naturally I was having none of that, so I chewed it like a normal piece of gum. It made me pretty nauseous from nicotine overdose.
Whereas with the patch you just stick it to your arm after you get out of the shower. No big deal. I used the 21 mg, which are pretty low caliber, and smoked while on it for about a week, then stopped smoking. A few days later I stopped wearing the patch. Your methods may vary based on your motivation (I had to quit ASAP for medical reasons).
Quitting sucks, though. For me, it isn't the hand movements that I keep trying to do. It's walking outside. I've always smoked outside. Sometimes I'll feel very compelled to get up and walk outside. I get really damn anxious and pace, but it's been the better part of 2 weeks, no nicotine. So far so good, I guess.
But it still f##### sucks!! |

I have an e-cig.
some day I will buy a couple more and use them full time to quit.
for now I use them on long flights. whenever I get the urge to smoke I pop into the bathroom and smoke till the urge is gone.
I use the nicotine tips and it feels like the real thing but it's not because when I land I have a smoke and get high as a kite. |

I was walking through Mega-Mart yesterday and there was a representative who offered me a go on an e-cig. It certainly feels like smoking and there is 'smoke' but it's vapour so it just disappears. But get this - they had an e-cigar and an e-Sherlock Holmes pipe - very tempting!
The e-cig was 120K and refills were 30K but I don't know how many you cartridges you got with either. |

Sometimes I still want for a smoke - for its relaxing and stomach settling properties. I often think about puffing on e cigs, but then I think the whole thing is wrong. Humans aren't made for breathing in fire and smoke into their bodies. |

I'm not a genius with this stuff yet, but I'm pretty sure that's a rip-off.
My problem (currently) is that I could use more batteries. |

If you can get vegetable glycerin or propylene (sp?) glycerin, it's cheap and makes up about 80% of the juice (I believe). The rest is nicotine (however much you want) and flavorings, and you make your own to refill cartridges.
I found this site:
http://www.dietsmokes.com/ and there's alot of stuff on youtube.
I dunno, maybe I'm killing myself quicker with this, but it seems better. |

The one thing my discovery solved for myself was that they're legal to buy in Korea. I wasn't sure about ordering them from abroad or whatever.
But you're going to need to have a look around to find any, otherwise, google them and order it from the U.S. |
