I just got my first paycheck and 3% was deducted for taxes. I read somewhere that foreigners are supposed to get 15% deducted and that when you file your taxes if you had less deducted you could have to pay the extra. Is that true? |
It depends on your total income for the fiscal year (just like almost every other country in the world), but I'm not sure when the cut off for that is in Korea, I just got my first pay slip and I don't even think I paid 3%, my coteacher tried to tell me something about the taxes and my previous school, but I didn't really understand what she was saying.
If you're working in a public school you shouldn't need to worry about it, they'll make sure everything balances out correctly, as for a private hakwon, I would assume they'd do the same, but you know what they say about when you assume... |
