Daegu is a big city and the US military is based there. So, are there black market stores there, like the "Red Door" in Itaewan? Where are they? Are they as good as ones in Seoul?

I've never been to the markets in Seoul, but the ones in Daegu have a few things in 'em.... Liquid Tide, western shampoos and the coveted deodorants.
If you know a little about the downtown area, you can find it quit easily.

Start by locating XnMilano. Then, you want to cross the busy street (walking north). Actually, you have to use the underpass to under the street....Continue walking north (you will be on the pedestrial thoroughfare 'Dongsungro')
As you walk you should see Lotte Dept Store in the distance...but you do not want to walk as far as to reach it. On your right hand side, about half way donwn Dongsungro, you will see about 5 old ajumas sitting on a liittle corner, peddling a black market money exchange. That's your cue.
Turn right at that corner. You will see some stalls selling camping gear, and army supplies (i think). The black market stalls are located down the tight passages to the right.

That's the same area that I would recommend, too....if you can't find it, just ask a Korean working in that area, about 'Yankee shijang'....It's an out-dated term, but most Koreans still know the name...can't remember what the current name is, at the moment
