Is the whole shoes on, shoes off thing just an irritating waste of energy?

I mean its dangerous. I have to put on some loose-fitting slippers to enter my school. I can't count the number of times they have caused me to trip and fall on the stairs, stub my toes, had children accidentally stand or shift chairs onto my toes in class, or slip on the wet "mopped" school floors. I can't even walk properly wearing these things.
Unless I'm wearing decent laced-up shoes, I just don't feel 100% equipped to go through the day.

Get better fitting slippers or shoes that you only wear indoors and all your problems are solved.

It doesn't make sense inside a filthy PS building. I just have another pair of shoes that are for school only. I got some funny looks at first, but after I explained the situation they were down with it. After that, a heap of teachers followed my lead and now do the same thing.

Changing into slippers at school does seem to be a little bit useless, but I definitely agree with doing so at home. In fact, I was already taking my shoes of at the door back in the states. I don't want to be tracking the outside grimy world into my home.

4 points:

* I already bought especially tighter slippers. But they still come off easily, especially if you're rushing anywhere. They're slippers.
As for buying extra shoes solely to wear in school, do I have to also buy other pairs and carry them with me for everywhere else I go?

*The school floors are cleaned every week. So then why not wear shoes anyway? At most its only a bit of extra dust. Put a dustmat out if you're that worried.

*The sheer time taken to constantly tie an untie laces everywhere you go- even if you're only entering the house for a second..hampers everything you do..

*Safety. If I have to lift and carry things at all, I need sturdy secure footwear. Not bathroom bunny slippers.
It even just spoils the whole suit and tie combination to round it off with slippers. It looks stupid.

I used to work as a janitor at Dofasco steel in Hamilton To improve the cleanliness of the schools

-Teach the students to do a proper figure 8 stroke when they mop. The method they use now just moves the dirt around.
- Wash the mop after use. I never seen them wash the mop. Change the mophead at least once a week. Never seen them change the mophead.
- Use bucket and liquide soap. All I see is students running around with a filthy old mop. First wet mop then dry mop. Wring out the mop in the bucket and mop again.

- Polish the floor with wax. Difficult to use at first. Once you stop fighting the machine you can do it in your sleep.

School slippers are worn so that children don't run up and down the corridor.
Well, that was the idea, doesn't work very well b/c these ratbags can shuffle about just as quickly.

true story, no lie. as I sit here writing this, I have 8 stitches on my right foot under my big toe from where I sliced it on the metal casing protecting the steps in my public school exactly 2 weeks ago. sandal caught the over hang of the step, sandal flew off and yea.. didn't notice the nice deep, angled cut until i was done cleaning up my coffee... unreal.
*%^&%%^& slippers.

I don't mind taking my shoes off indoors, but I don't count Korean public schools as "indoors". The floors and walls are covered with dirt, and the windows are always gaping open. That's outdoors.

Mom used to break out the spoon and dad the belt if we wore shoes in the house.

I don't like the narrow, undersized, flat-bottomed slippers here either. They easily fall off and can be hazardous. Fortunately, where I work, we wear shoes indoors as we would in any public building.
