|

Like a lot of people, I worked and lived in South Korea for a year. Now that I'm back home I'm still pursuing a career working with children, but one of the contractual stipulations is that if you have lived in any other country for more than 3 months (even whilst travelling) you have to be able to provide a clear criminal record check from that country.
I've googled of course but the only advice I can find is for how to get one whilst still in Korea (apparently just be visiting a police station) or if you are a Korean national. Neither of which are any good for me. I think I can't be the only person to have been in this situation, so it would be massively helpful if anyone could give some tips or let me know how they sorted it out.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. |

You need to contact the Korean embassy/consulate in the country you are now based. They will send you some forms (which I think will be in Korean) that you need to complete. You can probably also download the forms from the embassy website. You then need to send it to the Korean Police headquarters in Seoul (with international stamps etc so they can send it back to you) and they should process it within 4-6 weeks. |

Thank you so much for the helpful advice. Have you done this process before? |
