I want to become a better teacher and I want a better job. I really want out of Korea. I only have a business degree and 3 years of hagwon teaching.
What is my plan? What degree or certifications do I need?
Master's in TESOL? Teacher certification from my home? CELTA, TEFL ?
or improve my networking skills?
Is it possible to earn $5,000 a month teaching without F visa job hustle, but as a salaried teacher? |

There are three main routes you could go to get into the salary range you are talking about outside Korea. Management, Exams or Teacher Training. I know people in all of those areas who are probably on about what you mentioned. MAs are important for getting a good university job in Korea but to progress up the ladder in the other areas and in other countries, you would really need practical teaching qualifications. Most people I know with well paid jobs in those areas have CELTA, DELTA and an MA or a B Ed/PGCE.
A CELTA and a DELTA would get you into low level management in most countries outside of Korea but you'd probably need to show a lot of evidence of commitment on top of that (leading workshops and training sessions etc..) to get into teacher training. To get the good jobs in examining you would need to first qualify as an examiner, this could be done with a CELTA or an MA, and then gain a lot of experience in the field. You could then progress into training and monitoring new examiners or developing materials.
On the other hand I know a lot of teachers making good money with just a CELTA and examining work on the side but they work long hours and this can only be achieved in certain countries. |

| Hey tough guy, the kid wants to improve himself but he wants to do it outside of Korea and is looking for some career advice. What's so difficult to understand about that? |

From what I've seen, the tough guy is a troll.
On that note, is there any way to completely block posts from individual members so that their posts wouldn't even show up anywhere? |
