Hey All,

I've been getting mixed ideas from many people about how low a GPA Epik will accept for teaching? I've heard from my recruiter that EPIK is currently changing their requirements, and I'm a bit nervous. I went to two different colleges, one I received a 3.25 GPA and the second I receive a 2.25 GPA. I know the second is very low, but I do have a degree in English and plan on getting my TEFL Cert AND I have tutoring experience. Do you think my low GPA will stop me from getting a position with EPIK?

Thanks for any help/advice you can give!

i never knew your gpa has anything to do with you getting a job with epik...i don't think they really look at that...as long as you have your degree, and you seem to have one in ENG so i don't see any problems there...

As far as I know, no one looks at your transcripts. They just need the in a sealed envelope to verify that you graduated.

I don't think they even look at your transcripts. I am currently working with EPIK - just started and when I applied I wasn't sure of my GPA so I gave anumber close to what I thought it was. When I got my transcripts from my university the GPA was a lot lower than I had thought. I was worried that they might notice the difference and comment on it but nothng was said. I'm not suggesting you lie (I didn't do it on purpose) but I don't think they pay much attention to that.

For the first time ever, they are getting a lot more applications than there are positions.. so they have tightened up the rules a little bit.. But I wouldn't worry about it. I think that is probably on the bottom of their list for requirements. Your phone interview means a lot.. so speak clearly and give good answers!

yes if it continues to be an employer's market they will look at gpa. I applied directly to a province rather than go through EPIK and they looked at my transcripts. My school record is far from spectacular but they gave me chances to explain it and eventually accepted me after I played up my other accomplishments. It was a long, tough interview, but basically they just want to know if you will be dependable, work hard, and consistent for a whole year. Just have a good rest of application and have a good interview as everyone said. Finally the sooner you do everything the better the chances.

Your transcripts are proof your degree is real (can't they fake sealed transcript?). Nobody looks at them nor cares about them except specialized schools.

1) Do you have a pulse?
2) Do you have a degree from an English speaking country?

Congrats you are a teacher in Korea.

True. My GPA was 2.15 in college (2.0 to graduate required Laughing) and it didn't make a single difference.
