한국투자

I manage to get a new account in savings, which is 5%. Excited, I go home, however there was the issue of "internet banking" which I had completely forgotten about. No problem, I think. Shouldn't be too much of an issue to get 인터냇 뱅킹 so I took a lunch period off and hopped in the taxi to the bank. I get there, tell the woman I will open a new account (gf mentioned something weird about me "not being able to open an internet account" because my account is "irregular" Rolling Eyes ). So the paperwork starts and I call the gf to ask her to speak to the teller on my behalf, and the next thing that I know, I get the phone back and my gf tells me that they can't do it because some bad guys abused internet banking. That isn't the best part. They also said I had to DEPOSIT ONE MILLION WON FOR THREE MONTHS INTO THE ACCOUNT BEFORE THEY WOULD START INTERNET BANKING I just looked at the phone, looked at the teller, and left.

My question to you is: have any of you had difficulties dealing with this particular bank? Can you suggest a good place in Korea to save at a good rate of return? Anyone know a strong Korean negotiator that could help me get what I want?

Try another branch. A few years ago I went to the Shinhan in Itaewon to open a new account. They wouldn't give me a bank card, telling me that I had to see a teller for any transaction for the first three months (when I asked why, they said "there was a problem" Rolling Eyes ). The next day I went to a Shinhan branch in Yeouido and got a bank card no problem. I wanted to go back to the Itaewon branch and confront them, but I didn't want them to cancel the card on me.

Yeah- I'll give that a try, thanks for the info!

branches are pretty spaced out- "True Friend" isn't a large chain.

Then again I did find an affiliate branch at Juyeop Razz
