| Any one got any suggestions for textbooks for learning Mandarin? I've already started learning characters, but using the net just isn't working out for me. I had a look on some university websites to see what they were using. One university is using Colloquial Chinese as the first textbook on their first year core module. Another university is using the New Practical Chinese Reader. Are either of those books any good? Are there are better books on the market? |

There is the book called "Remembering the Kanji". It focuses on how to break down the Chinese characters into their own parts to create stories/image that will help memorize/recognize the meanings of the characters in English.
This book however does not include the simplified Chinese characters b/c the book is for learners of Japanese, which uses the Traditional Characters. However, the meanings of the characters pretty much stay the same throughout all the language that use Chinese characters as part of their writing system. |
